Chelsea Cater - Left Hand Man

Left hand Man

CLIENT: Chelsea Carter // ©ChelseaCarter
SONG: Left Hand Man - is about being tired of the love games. All these men around her for the chase, but she is looking for the one that will play this life with her on her team.

SCENE: Country music videos are all too similar…girl and guy in a bar. Since Chelsea’s music is this new wave of country music we decided to flip the script by bringing a country song into an arcade. Throughout the video we touch on the modernization within country music in subtle ways like swapping the common cowboy hat with “Cowboy hat” labeled ball cap or riding side-saddle on a stallion with strumming side-saddle on a motorcycle.

STORY LINE: Chelsea walks into an arcade…when she does she encounters all these “stereotypical” men that start to chase after her: “the jock”, “the nerd”, and the “bad boy”. They are all physically “playing games with her” and (just as the song alludes to) her emotions. They are desperate to “win” for her attention and “win” her over. Throughout the video there are countless parallels drawn on the play of the arcade games mirroring the song lyrics like Chelsea knocking down clowns or all 3 men playing Jackpot (trying to win Chelsea or the jackpot) against each other, but also the parallel of playing games to being the love game itself. This is seen as Chelsea plays each “character” and wins. Each man faces a dreaded “game-over” as she “shoots them down” and they are left heart-broken. In all games there is a winner and loser and sometimes an outcome you never see coming…
